When we're looking at the investment portfolios of our clients, we look at liquidity very carefully. If they don't have enough liquidity, certain real estate investment products are not suitable for them.

When considering an investment, one should consider whether or not they really have the appropriate amount of capital that they need to handle their day-to-day lives. If they are going to invest in an illiquid investment, such as a non-traded REIT or a real estate investment fund, they should think about that investment in terms of a long-term place to put their money.

Liquidity at certain times can be a significant advantage for investors, and sometimes illiquid investments can offer them significant advantages also.

The bottom line for us as we consider our investments for our clients' portfolios is whether or not they have the appropriate amount of liquidity to supply them with the amount of cash that they would need in any given circumstance.
