On this video I teach how to calculate your caloric intake requirements for weight loss, maintaining weight and gaining weight based off your activity levels. On this video I show you a super easy chart to use that gives you multipliers that you will use to figure out your calories for each day. This chart was created by precision nutrition and the data comes from the national institutes of health. This is a straightforward way to calculate calories. However, there are also more in depth calculators that will measure macronutrient requirements and allotments.

Not all macronutrients are created equal and must be treated as such. A glazed donut does not have the same carbohydrates in it, as a cup of organic brice rice does. One is highly processed and one is much more natural. They will break down in the body and be assimilated much differently. This is a discussion for a later video. For now, this is a general overview on how to calculate for your daily caloric intake.

For weight loss - you typically want more protein than fat and carbs (50%, 30%, 20%). For maintenance, you want a balance between protein, fat and carbs (30%, 30%, 40%). For weight gain you typically want more carbs than fat and protein (55%, 15%, 30%).
