We are experimenting with grazing sheep on our organic winter wheat crops to promote tillering and add some fertility to the growing crop. The research I have done suggested that it is OK to leave them on there until the ear of the wheat gets to about 1cm and up until that point there should be no yield loss. I am only trying it on a few fields this year, but if it works I would like to try it more extensively next year.

The mild winter and the dry conditions have made it perfect to trial it this first year.
