Tutorial: Dell R610 upgrade RAID Controller

Описание к видео Tutorial: Dell R610 upgrade RAID Controller

Needing to put larger hard drives into our R610's we upgraded our RAID cards to the Dell H700 to surpass the initial limitation of 2TB that come with the Perc 6/i that comes with the R610 initially. This also has the benefit of changing the cap speed of the drives from from 3Gpbs to 6Gbps enabling faster transfer speeds.

This video also shows how loud the R610 can be, so for homelabs with more than one R610 I would recommend they reside in a separate room. Also included is the abysmal boot up speed, so I would also recommend an UPS system for the server to ensure minimal down time.

Parts:
PERC H700 512MB Cache Hardware RAID Card - Amazon Link: https://amzn.to/3CkSgQK
M246M 0M246M SAS Cables - Amazon Link: https://amzn.to/3rVSwAw
FR463 Battery for Poweredge - Amazon Link: https://amzn.to/2VybPnG

Not in the video, but you can use SATA drives in the SAS drive cages and have it be recognized in the RAID BIOS controller without loss of speed or capacity.
