He is engaged in absentia to the Major’s niece, Shurochka, who appears to be an affectation-laden fashionable girl at their first meeting. But he does not know that Shurochka is an excellent rider, swordsman, and can shoot without a miss. Based on Once Upon A Time, a play by Alexander Gladkov.
