The well-known Indian playback singer Mukesh passed away on August 27, 1976, which is now 45 years ago.

To commemorate this great singer, Yaadgaar Orchestra intended to organize a 'memorial concert', but that is not possible for the time being due to the Covid situation.

In order to commemorate this fact properly, the orchestra has decided to put together a TV program, consisting of Mukesh repertoire from previous concerts. This program was broadcasted on Trishul TV, channel 20.4, on Friday, Aug. 27.

The program included songs from a memorial concert from five years ago, on August 27, 2016. The well-known Surinamese Mukesh singer Ramnarain Sewram also passed away in that year, so the concert at that time was a tribute to both Mukesh and Sewram. Several Surinamese Mukesh interpreters of yesteryears took part in this concert: Raghubans Pitai, Jaswant Sharma, Taran Panchoe, Gurupersad Baktawar and Suresh Mataw, assisted by, among others, Sharda Doekhie and Indira Jadoenathmisier. Special guests were Sanjay and Soenita Sewram, son and daughter of Ramnarain. A part of this concert from 2016 was broadcasted.

The second part of the TV program (separate Youtube video) consisted of songs by Ramnarain Sewram (Suriname), Mukhtar Shah (India) and Devindre Pooran (Guyana), all songs from their concerts in Suriname. In this way, Yaadgaar Orchestra has decided to pay an appropriate tribute to the legendary Mukesh.

It is worth mentioning that Mukesh gave concerts in Suriname in August 1967, and also in the Netherlands in 1972.
