The first day the music died - April 2, 2013, almost 11 years ago. It's actually crazy that this happened 11 years ago, it feels so recent in my mind still. But so does RB4's launch, so I guess I'm just old.

Times truly felt dire when this song dropped, because the future of this genre was uncertain. At this time, RB4 was still just wishful thinking, not many people thought there would actually be a Rock Band 4, at least not any time soon. Of course we all know that RB4 did eventually release, about 2.5 years after American Pie came out as DLC, and holy shit did those 2.5 years feel like a lifetime.

Rock Band and Guitar Hero were truly dead in everybody's mind, but then at the beginning of 2015, without any warning, a new track pack released for Rock Band 3. I was so fucking hyped when I saw that, because I KNEW that it wasn't random, they had to be hyping us up for a new game. Surely enough, RB4 started getting teased and we eventually got an official confirmation. I remember where I was the day RB4 was officially announced, I was taking my ACT test and I was able to check it out on my phone during a break between test sections. We were so back. That was a great feeling.

With RB4 DLC finally coming to an end, it doesn't feel nearly as bleak or sad, instead it feels hopeful because the next game is already out - Fortnite Festival. If any of you guys are holding out hope for a Rock Band 5, it's already here. This is going to be the next music platform Harmonix supports for years and years to come. Hop on board, it's a fun game. Instrument support is coming soon too.
