The Supreme Consciousness broke the beginningless "Aṇḍa" (the primal egg or seed) and from it the sound "Oṃ" emerged. The first sound of it was "BHŪḤ"; the second was "BHUVAḤ"; and the third was "SVAḤ". Everything is of these three. This gave us the Gayatri Mantra.

He is the god of death who destroys the world (as we know it or see it).
In the Ṛgveda, god Yama is prayed for leading the devotees to the path through which their ancestors departed (from their own True Light).
