The combination of the stylish Speedster coachwork with the glorious four-cam Carrera motor as seen here has long been regarded by collectors and enthusiasts as the Porsche 356's ultimate expression. Chassis number '83727', is the last of only three right-hand drive Carrera Speedsters built by Porsche out of a total production of only 152 cars. All three RHD Carrera Speedsters were delivered new into Australia between July 1956 and September 1957. '83727' was built on 3rd September 1957 finished in Ruby Red with black interior, Rudge wheels and US bumpers. This breath-taking Porsche was delivered new to Irvin Rockman, a wealthy Australian hotelier. During the next 40 years the car changed hands several times with the engine being replaced with engine number 'P90897' This engine belonged to chassis number '83794', the fourth GT Speedster off the production line. During 2012 - 2014 this famous car was restored to GT Specification, GT upgrades included 60mm front brakes, 80-litre fuel tank, Sebring exhaust, roll bar, a louvred engine cover, Spyder wing mirror, wide steel wheels, GT bumper trim, and a Derrington wood-rim steering wheel. Over the past 20 years this famous car has won numerous awards and been featured in several specialist publications.
