Take on a cozy train ride through the beautiful western Jutland countryside with Midtjyske Railways old 80's Y-train.

VLTJ stands for Vemb-Lemvig-Thyborøn Jernbaner (Railways) and runs 50km/28mi from the countryside in Vemb all the way to the coast at Thyborøn. Stopping at very small stations along the way. Some places its only gravel, bricks and a primitive shelter for wind and rainy days.

The line from Vemb to Lemvig opened in 1879, and almost immediately after plans to extend to Thyborøn were layed on the table.
They had to wait another 20 years to travel by rail, but in 1899 the railway to Thyborøn was completed. VLTJ now had a full name.

A name which has stuck to present day and a local Thyborøn band (Tørfisk) has made a tribute song to the railway. Complete with its own special dance, it's surely still popular in Danish Clubs and discos even today.
