Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue: NDMA Member Provides Update On Rescue Ops, Families In Contact

Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue: Lt General Syed Ata Hasnain, a member of the National Disaster Management Authority, provided an update on the ongoing rescue efforts in the Uttarkashi tunnel collapse. He mentioned the availability of adequate water, oxygen, power, and lighting within the tunnel. Several families of the trapped workers have been relocated to the site, and communication with the respective state administrations representing these workers is actively ongoing. Notably, some families have managed to communicate with the trapped workers through a 4-inch installed pipe. Hasnain highlighted the primary focus on implementing horizontal drilling using an auger machine brought in from external sources as a key aspect of their rescue strategy.
