I found a few videos on how to “disable soundaktor” on a MK8 Golf R , but i didn’t find any about where to physically unplug it on a MK8 specifically. They only show how to disable the sound with OBDEleven which I just didn’t feel like paying for.

So here’s how to unplug it. I haven’t had any lights pop up on the dash yet. I assume none will as it isn’t related to drivetrain etc. fingers crossed.

I quite literally pulled the plastic up around both sides of the rubber seal bit, and then just pulled the rubber trim off and reached my hand up under the middle plastic area. Mk7 seems to have clips in the area that need to be undone. MK8 does not. This was fairly simple. 2/10 difficulty. 1/10 if you’re smaller than me.
