Combat Siege: All 12 Flak Levels

The defense of the base is one of the most important elements of the game and the defense towers, often called flak for short, are the most reliable protection of a base. Each captured base first comes with two very basic defense towers. Now you can increase not only the number but also their quality in terms of armor, weapon strength, and range.

If a player's main goal is to make the base withstand more attacks, then the upgrades to levels 2, 5, 8, 10, and 12 are important. So a flak of the highest level can withstand 6 times as much as a flak level 1. For comparison, a flag offers 10 times the armor, which is significantly more than the flak upgrade. Upgrades are not a permanent replacement for flags, but additional protection whose effect is multiplicative. So a level 12 defense tower with flags has 60 times the armor compared to an unflagged level 1 base. I have never heard of a case where a flagged level 12 base was taken. If at all, this will only be possible with the extreme effort of many alliance members together.

At levels 4, 7, 9, and 11 the weapon strength increases. So a level 11 defense tower can do 8 times as much damage as a level 1 defense tower. Against such a weapon strength it is very difficult to conduct a continuous attack. Yet this is exactly what is so important, as the attacked player could simply replace destroyed defense towers during pauses in the attack. Thus, attacking a well-built base requires enormous amounts of cannon fodder. Again, only a few good alliances will be able to accomplish this.

In addition, there is a better range of upgraded defense towers. The best level will strafe most artillery immediately. Only the longest-range howitzers, such as Smerch, can help. Helicopters are almost ineffective against high-end bases.

One additional feature changes with each level: the price. The first upgrade to level 2 is still available for a modest 9 gold. Then it gets more expensive with each level and in the end, it even gets quite expensive. Invincibility is not something you can get for a bargain price.
