Phase three of occupational therapy focuses on treatment plan communication and defining the value proposition of occupational therapy. Activity analysis is a key aspect that sets occupational therapy apart from other professions. It is important to align focus and intentions in situations with patient handoffs or limited one-on-one care. Reviewing the initial evaluation and goals helps effectively communicate the treatment plan. Designing a treatment plan continuum based on goals and conducting activity analysis is essential. Understanding the diagnosis and its impact on recovery helps determine appropriate interventions. Continuity and consistency are necessary for progress towards goals. Giving patients choice within the treatment plan while maintaining control over the why of the activity is important. Visual illustrations, like activity analysis illustrations, can explain complexities and advocate for occupational therapy's value. Completing challenges and providing feedback to group members is encouraged for practice and growth. Engaging and stepping outside of comfort zones is valuable for learning.
