The Armitt: Behind the Scenes - Beatrix Potter with Janet Edwards

Описание к видео The Armitt: Behind the Scenes - Beatrix Potter with Janet Edwards

Beatrix Potter - writer, artist, scientist, farmer, and conservationist. She is best known for her "Little Books" about Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck, Mrs Tiggywinkle and more, but did you know she was an award-winning farmer and influential mycologist? Here at The Armitt, we have hundreds of watercolours of fungi that Potter donated to us after her death, and they delight and fascinate our visitors to this day. Potter was also instrumental in acquiring land and property for the National Trust in its early days, and helped save the Herdwick sheep breed from obscurity through her involvement with Cumbrian farming.

Join Kate Bleckley, Events & Activity Assistant, as she opens our archives on Beatrix Potter and explores her story with Janet Edwards, Trustee of The Beatrix Potter Society.

The Armitt Museum and Library was founded in Ambleside, Cumbria, by Mary Louisa Armitt in 1912. Our collections cover the stories of Ambleside, its people, and Lakeland life.
