Detecting SmartScreen Bypass Attempts With Trend Vision One

This video illustrates how to use Trend Vision One ™ to detect Microsoft Defender SmartScreen bypass attempts. Trend Micro’s Zero Day Initiative™ (ZDI) recently discovered CVE-2024-21412 - a Windows Defender SmartScan bypass used in zero-day attacks by the advanced persistent threat group (APT) Water Hydra.

Trend customers have been protected since January 16 and we advise other organizations to take immediate action in response to the ongoing active exploitation of this vulnerability by cybercriminals.
