This is my video record of a trip I took in 2006 on “The Canadian” train from Toronto to Vancouver, Canada. My home video camcorder in 2006 was a shadow of current home video equipment. The video was saved to a special video tape cassette in the camcorder. This made a continuous video of everything I recorded. There was no such thing as a video clip. This video then had to be transferred to a VHS cassette deck. Editing was done by moving the VHS tape to where I wanted to start a certain part of my video from the camera. At first, I would set the camera tape a little before the start of what I wanted, begin playback, and press the record button of the VHS deck when it got to my starting point. Later I got a VHS deck that would start recording as soon as it got a video signal from the camera. Obviously, this was slow and laborious and did not lend itself to quality editing.

In this new version of this video, I have corrected some problems brought on by the crude editing I did in 2006. Many other problems were not correctable. There are a number of captions still in the video that were produced by the 2006 camera! I had to select each letter of my caption from a menu of sorts in the camera. The camera always put the caption in the same part of the frame, no matter what the background was. The captions from the camera cannot be removed. There was no way to add a narration to a video so I would sometimes do an ad-lib narration as I was shooting. Some of these are also still in the video since I can’t get rid of those either, but I have added other narration. Adding music to a video was out of the question. I have fixed that also
