The Decoder Buddy has provided an easy way to install 21 pin decoders in a smaller space than the typical Atlas type circuit board versions. In addition contacts have been provided to make adding a stay alive easy and convenient. However, One issue has always been in using stay alive devices with 3 wires such as those from ESU and DCC Concepts that should be used with LokSound decoders. Nix Trainz now has a fix for that with their newest release of the Decoder Buddy. Also the folks at SoundTraxx have redesigned their Current Keeper to a smaller footprint which should make it much easier to squeeze into a lot of tight locations.
