ড. আবু হেনা মোস্তফা কামাল: এক স্বপ্নবাজ মানুষের গল্প
ড. আবু হেনা মোস্তফা কামাল একজন স্বপ্নবাজ মানুষ। বুয়েট থেকে ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং সম্পন্ন করে তিনি কর্মজীবন শুরু করেন শিক্ষকতা দিয়ে। পরবর্তীতে জাপানে উচ্চতর শিক্ষার জন্য যান এবং সেখানে মাস্টার্স ডিগ্রি অর্জনের পর যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে পিএইচডি সম্পন্ন করেন। শুরু থেকেই তিনি ছিলেন এমন একজন মানুষ, যিনি সর্বদা দেশ নিয়ে চিন্তা করেছেন এবং দেশের কল্যাণে কিছু করার স্বপ্ন দেখেছেন।
দেশের মানুষের কল্যাণে কিছু করার স্বপ্ন থেকেই ২০০৬ সালে তিনি ঢাকায় একটি সেন্টারের মাধ্যমে কিডনি ডায়ালাইসিস প্রকল্পের যাত্রা শুরু করেন। ২০০৫ থেকে ২০১০ সালের মধ্যে ইমদাদ–সিতারা খান ফাউন্ডেশনের আর্থিক সহায়তায় প্রথম পাঁচটি কিডনি ডায়ালাইসিস সেন্টার প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। এরপর তিনি নিজ উদ্যোগে এবং নিবেদিতপ্রাণ দলীয় সদস্যদের আন্তরিক সহযোগিতায় শুরু করেন সোনার বাংলা ফাউন্ডেশন। এরপর থেকে ধীরে ধীরে সেন্টারের সংখ্যা বৃদ্ধি পেতে থাকে।
বর্তমানে সোনার বাংলা ফাউন্ডেশনের আওতায় বাংলাদেশের ২৩টি জেলায় ২৩টি কিডনি ডায়ালাইসিস সেন্টার কার্যক্রম পরিচালিত হচ্ছে , এবং আরও ৫টি কেন্দ্র উদ্বোধনের অপেক্ষায় রয়েছে। সোনার বাংলা ফাউন্ডেশনের মাধ্যমে প্রতি বছর প্রায় এক লক্ষ মানুষ নামমাত্র মূল্যে চিকিৎসাসেবা গ্রহণের সুযোগ পাচ্ছেন। ড. কামালের প্রচেষ্টায় প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছে বায়োমেডিকেল ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং এবং সোনার বাংলা নার্সিং ইনস্টিটিউট। তাঁর স্বপ্নের প্রকল্প সোনার বাংলা ইউনিভার্সিটি, যা বাস্তবায়নের লক্ষ্যে তিনি দীর্ঘদিন ধরে অক্লান্ত পরিশ্রম করে যাচ্ছেন।
তাঁর আরেকটি বড় স্বপ্ন বাংলাদেশেই বায়োমেডিকেল ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং প্রযুক্তির মাধ্যমে ডায়ালাইসিস মেশিন সহ অন্যান্য মেডিকেল ডিভাইস তৈরী করা এবং ভবিষ্যতে তা যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে রপ্তানি করা। এই লক্ষ্য বাস্তবায়নের প্রস্তুতি তিনি ইতোমধ্যেই সম্পন্ন করেছেন। দেশ ও মানুষের প্রতি ড. আবু হেনা মোস্তফা কামালের এই ভালোবাসা, নিবেদন এবং আত্মত্যাগ সত্যিই অনন্য ও গভীরভাবে অনুপ্রেরণাদায়ক। তাঁর এই

Dr. Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal – The Rise of a Relentless Dreamer
Dr. Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal is not just a name he is a story of vision, resilience, and compassion.
A dreamer with an unshakable belief in change. After graduating in Engineering from BUET, he began his journey as a teacher shaping minds, inspiring futures. His thirst for knowledge led him to Japan, where he earned his Master’s degree, and later to the United States, where he completed his PhD.
Yet, even in distant lands, one thought never left his heart his love for Bangladesh and his dream to make a difference for its people. That dream took shape in 2006, when he launched a kidney dialysis project in Dhaka a humble beginning that would one day save thousands of lives. Between 2005 and 2010, with the support of the Imdad–Sitara Khan Foundation, the first five dialysis centers were established. Soon after, fueled by determination and joined by a team of passionate individuals, Dr. Kamal founded Sonar Bangla Foundation a beacon of hope for those fighting kidney disease. From one center, it began to spread one dream at a time, one life at a time.
Today, Sonar Bangla Foundation operates 23 kidney dialysis centers across 23 districts in Bangladesh, with 5 more on the way. Each year, nearly 100,000 patients receive life-saving treatment at minimal cost because one man dared to dream differently. Under his leadership, the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Sonar Bangla Nursing Institute have come to life paving the way for a new generation of healthcare heroes.
And his greatest vision yet Sonar Bangla University stands as a dream in motion, built to empower minds and serve humanity. But Dr. Kamal’s dream doesn’t stop there. He envisions a future where Bangladesh produces its own dialysis machines and medical devices, using advanced biomedical technology and exports them to the United States and beyond. That vision is already taking shape.
Dr. Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal’s journey is one of sacrifice, purpose, and endless hope.
His life reminds us that “When a dream is born for the good of humanity, no power in the world can stop it from coming true.”
