Bhimbetka Primitive people's peace.Bhimbetka is 46 km from Bhopal.Bhimbetka is about 2200 feet above sea level. Bhopal Madhya Pradesh's deep past slumbers in remote mountain caves at the foot of the Vindhya Mountains. Bhopal Madhya Pradesh's deep past slumbers in remote mountain caves at the foot of the Vindhya Mountains. This wonderful pass was hidden in the darkness of oblivion for years. These beads were discovered by Vishnu Sri Dhar Wakankar in 1957 AD. History 130 caves were discovered. Later, students discovered other caves. About six hundred small and big caves have been discovered so far. However, only 25 caves are open to the general public. The paintings of early man in the cave are believed to date from 15,000 BC to 6,000 BC. That is, from the beginning of the Paleolithic Age to the end of the Neolithic Age. According to archaeologists, among all the prehistoric caves discovered in the world, Bhimbetka is the oldest in India. It was once said to be second only to Altamira in Spain. However, after the discovery of the Sulawesi pig painting in Indonesia, historians referred to it as the oldest cave painting in the world. If this statement is correct, Bhimbetka's position will be third.

By Air
Nearest airport is at Bhopal about 55 km from Bhimbetka.
By Road
It is well connected by roads from all directions. Its nearby place are Bhopal,
Indore, Itarsi, Sagar, Raisen etc. Their is regular bus service from these places.
By Train
Nearest railway stations for reaching Bhimbetka is Bhopal, Narmadapuram
(Hoshangabad) & Itarsi.
