DSD's require a more thoughtful approach to the analysis than is typical. By including the word "screening" in the name of the design, it is implied that they would be limited to only finding factors with significant linear effects. Because they are built with three levels of all the numeric factors, there are limited circumstances where a good approximation of the true response surface can be found.

These circumstances will be defined and then the focus of the presentation will shift to common situations where they are not necessarily true.

Analysis examples will be used to show:
• how the analysis and conclusions can be misleading
• what fixes can be applied
• better ways to go about building and using screening designs
