Black sand. A desolate wasteland broken only by the jagged cut of rock formations. In the sky, lights that could be mistaken for stars jostled with each other for space. The occasional brighter flashes were almost serene but for the story they told of overloaded shield generators, airlock breaches and fiery death.

One star that was not a star attempted to break away from the deadly constellations. Too late for running now, but not so late it couldn’t hide what it carried. The heroic struggle it made to get away made a lie of the gentle curve it followed when observed from the ground.

Suddenly, the silence that choked the wasteland was broken. Engines screeching, a Thunderhawk raced across the sands. Flying low it kicked up a dust storm in its wake. Inside, two crew frantically looking for a safe haven for the data cache they carried. Behind it, two aircraft in a deep sea green tracked its every move.

The tailing aircraft were two apex predators. They could sense the weakness in their prey. Could smell it. Taste it.

Three missiles launched themselves from the wings of the pursuers, each carrying a payload capable of hollowing out a battle tank. They shot forward like spears cast from a hunter’s hand. One missile shot wide of the mark. One failed to penetrate the thick armour of the Thunderhawk. The final one carved a furrow deep into the reinforced ceramite and detonated.

Immediately the Thunderhawk lost control. Engines aflame, it was thrown from the sky and onto the black plains below. Its momentum caused it to skid for thirty metres before halting, twisted and smoking. Their prey dead, the two sea green aircraft sped away.

As the wrecked Thunderhawk burned forces on the ground gathered, hungering for this rich prize…

The Channel has been asked many times to film intro games of Horus Heresy, there are still a lot of people who want to get into 30k but are unsure where to start. Alasdhair and I thought it would be good to film 6 games starting at 500 points and working up to 3k.

In this game we go through the books you need to get started and discuss out own beginnings and what attracted us to 30k.

I really hope you enjoy the first game in the series, we had loads of fun filming them. The plan is to release the first game in June and finish the series by September. As of the 17th of June 2019 we have filmed 4 of the games. Game 2 will be released on the 1st of July.
