November 22, 1988 - 5 years of history came to a close in November 1988 as New York legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar made his final trip to Madison Square Garden. Abdul-Jabbar's first visit to MSG came in the mid-60's when leading Power Memorial to three New York City Catholic championships and a 71-game winning streak.

After leaving the city for UCLA, Abdul-Jabbar did well for himself. In addition to three NCAA championships, he went on to make 19 NBA All-Star appearances and win six NBA championships over the course of a 20-year NBA career with the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers.

In his final trip to the Garden, the 41-year-old Abdul-Jabbar finished with 12 points and 6 rebounds in a 110-98 Lakers win.
