A story of the first Ostrobothnians known by name: Tobbe from Tjöck, Michael from Lappfjärd and Anders from Sastmola, who went to see King Birger in Stockholm in 1303 AD to confirm their rights to lands on the eastern shores of the Baltic Sea. The confirmation letter from King Birger has been preserved in several copies. The copy used for the purpose of this film is kept at Uppsala University Library (Diplomatarium Fennicum 242).
