So, to finish up the Gwent: Old Pals quest, you need to find Lambert.

You'll run into him during the course of the game as a sidequest, but if, like me, you finished up all those before dealing with the Gwent stuff, you'll find him in the Nowhere Inn in Novigrad (and later, at Kaer Morhen). So, that's the answer to Lambert's location. Hurrah!
