Trying out DiMarzio D Activator pickups with a custom Mad Hatter Solderless tone shaping kit:

Dual humbuckers, Dual Volume, Single Tone, 5 way switch with a push/ pull phase switch wired to the tone knob.

I will do my best to make a video with the phase switch and clean tones in the future. This video covers distorted lead tones with coil splits.

Distorted ascending and descending runs, taps, arpeggios etc.
Similar phrases repeated to hear tonal differences in pickups positions

Jackson DKMG: basswood body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard.

Pickups lowered 3mm below strings.

Impressions: I’m very happy with the D Activators and the Mad Hatter Tone Shaping kit.

The folks at Mad Hatter Guitar Products were very quick and courteous in putting together my custom order.

To me, when played back to back, the D Activators sound similar to a DiMarzio Evolution, but with a little more output and more bite. Extremely clear, tight and articulate pickups but still retain that DiMarzio “sweetness.”
