Are Irish Solid Color Kilts More Correct or Traditional? Here's the evolution of Irish kilt fashion

The tradition of wearing the kilt in Ireland goes back to the late 19th century. The garment was first endorsed by prominent proponents of Irish nationalism and Irish cultural revival. These included several nobles who adopted the Irish cause, as well as Gaelic Revival leaders and men like Patrick Pearse and the founders of the St. Enda's School (Scoil Éanna).

One thing which they all agreed on regarding Irish kilts was that they should be made of solid colors. The most prominent choices being green, saffron or dark blue. This approach was mainly based on the notion that the Irish "national dress" should be separated visually from that of Scotland. Similarly, many chose not to wear a sporran and used plaid brooches in the form of medieval Irish penannular broaches. Later, a modern rendition of the Irish cloak called the 'Bratt' was added, especially for military band uniforms.

So is a solid color kilt more traditional for an Irishman to adopt if he wants to wear the kilt?
