Dynasty warriors 5 XL: Red hare harness guide

Let's talk tactics:

Difficulty level: Medium - It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it, but you might need a few tries.

Objective: Before Cao Cao arrives, personally occupy all five enemy attack bases and defeat Li Dian, Man Chong and Yue Jin (their officers are irrelevant), while keeping KO count below 300. Once the three gates of
Pu Yang Castle have been surrounded, achieve a KO count of 300.

Walkthrough: What you want to do is Take the five emeny bases as quickly as possible, while getting as much K.O's as possible. Then surround the three castle gates but be aware that you can't get over 300 K.O's yet. Once the three gates are surrounded, farm kills until you get 300 and the item will spawn. This needs to be done before Cao Cao arrives at the 10 minute mark, but you should have plenty of time. This can be played on any difficulty, so obviously I recommend novice. But if you choose for the latter, you need to be really fast to get the item because Xun Yu will die from your allies very quickly, ending the battle in the process. Feel free to play on a higher difficulty if you feel more comfortable with it.

Item spawn location: Central area, north from the river.

Recommended gear:
There's not much to say here except that it is recommended to start on a horse, since you cannot afford to be slow here.
A well trained character is also recommended because you need to farm K.O's pretty fast so it is advisable to one-shot enemies. I took Lu Bu here but you can do it with any character.
