This book tells the story of one of the least-known and unpopular wonders of Queen Victoria's India - a customs barrier 2300 miles long, most of it made of hedge. It was manned by 12000 men and would have stretched from London to Constantinople. This hedge was used by the British to collect the tax on Salt. Through this tax British had looted millions and millions of rupees from India. This inhumane and aggressive taxation on salt also costed millions of Indian people's lives.
