How To Make $500 a Month In Dividends

Do you want to make $500 a month in dividends?

The first step is working out how much you’ll need to have invested to get to $500 a month.

$500 a month x 12 months = $6000 a year. So you want to earn $6000 a year in dividend income.

That’s important to distinguish because it’ll be much easier to aim for $6000 a year than $500 a month - simply because companies and funds pay at different times per year and it’s quite difficult to get exactly $500 a month. Some months will pay more, some less, depending on the companies within your portfolio.

So based on an average dividend yield of 5% (which is what I generally aim for) means you’ll need to have approximately $120,000 in your investment portfolio.

That might seem like a lot when you’re starting out, but you’ll be surprised just how much it can grow over time with you investing money into it and time helping you out.

Plus you should be setting smaller goals along the way.
