Dudley Moore and his trio plays Lullaby of Birdland by George Shearing, Magdalen College, Oxford

Dudley Moore and trio perform Lullaby of Birdland by George Shearing, Magdalene College, Oxford in the 1950s. I was given a tape recording from a show 'The Birds' which Dudley provided the music for by Brian Harrell who I met at concert in Oxford many years ago. I believe Brian directed it.
I transferred it to computer before my cassette tape got chewed!
Dudley plays in an Erroll Garner style, showing at a young age mastery and great musicality.

I was very fortunate that Dudley invited me to meet him in London in 1999. I had dedicated an original piece and a transcription of his music to Bedazzled to him. I transcribed his album Songs Without Words meticulously for Faber in 2011. He was incredibly generous, kind and encouraging to me.

You can hear my beautiful and jazzy new piano Piano Concerto recorded by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra here. The opening is I think inspired Dudley’s music.
