Synopsis:
The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Digital Engineering Integration Committee (DEIC) consists of 75 members within AIAA. The DEIC strives to accelerate integration of new & existing ‘digital’ capabilities for improving national competitiveness, security and operational readiness. We do this through establishing an Aerospace Forum for integrating currently disparate ‘digital’ activities (e.g. Digital Twin, Digital Thread, Integrated Computational Materials Engineering, BIGDATA, etc.). We support constituent groups (inside and outside AIAA) in the development and creation of technical programs related to Digital Engineering. DEIC is the centralized AIAA home for digital engineering topics. This presentation will provide an overview of the AIAA DEIC and highlight our latest artifact, a joint AIAA and AIA position paper on the Digital Twin.
Bio:
Mr. Mathew (Mat) French is a Staff Engineer Systems / Architect with Northrop Grumman. Mr. French is part of the Enterprise Open Architecture team where he provides systems engineering and architecting leadership for future aerospace system mission capabilities. Mr. French has industry experience in systems and electrical engineering, and he is a retired US Army officer with 23+ years of service in the US military. Mr. French received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from George Mason University, received his Master’s degree in Systems Engineering from The George Washington University, and another Master’s degree in Systems Architecting from the University of Southern California. Mr. French is an INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP). Mr. French is the chair of the AIAA Digital Engineering Integration Committee (DEIC), and AIAA Associate Fellow.
