Baker's Yeast [Digitakt + Hydrasynth + Ditto x4]

Описание к видео Baker's Yeast [Digitakt + Hydrasynth + Ditto x4]

A hip-hop beat with some exotic flavors. Focused around building up the beat live using the digitakt, hydrasynth explorer, and guitar (looped with the ditto x4).

This is a watch the sugar skull bump type beat.

Notes:

The ditto is at my feet and it's receiving a midi clock from the digitakt. I have tried a few different setups now trying to start/stop recording events but honestly it's a pain so it's just easier for me to trigger it manually and have it match endpoints to the received clock.

I'm using the hydrasynth mainly as midi controller in this one because I only have a single midi out from the digitakt and can't sequence it directly like I usually do. But I found a new trick which I will definitely play with more. I record the midi onto the DT with the HS volume down completely, and then once the DT is sequenced I put the HS volume back up to normal. Then when I play the HS, because it's still sending midi to the DT, I get both synths to play at the same time. This is cool when the synths are octaves apart and in this case the DT acted like a sub bass to the melody on the HS. Added bonus, because the DT is monophonic, playing over the sequence ducks the recorded trigs. Makes some interesting rhythms and will definitely try to explore that more in the future.

This one isn't completely dawless. I used Bitwig as the master clock to the digitakt over USB so I could sync up to the metronome at the beginning when recording the initial guitar loop. The DT is recorded directly using overbridge, and guitar and synth are recorded into a focusrite.

Thanks for watching!
