Qualcomm Senior Director of Product Management Karl Whealton begins the Tech Talk with a presentation on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 AI technology.

Qualcomm has years of iterative innovation in effectively executing AI workloads. That innovation culminates in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 features new levels of AI efficiency thanks to the breakthrough innovation of microtile inference, where neural networks are broken into smaller tiles to enable all three elements of the Hexagon Processor to work simultaneously, increasing performance and power efficiency. This new efficiency accelerates how Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 handles complex AI models, and it enables it to tackle 10+ layers of data simultaneously.

Senior Director of AI Product Management Vinesh Sukumar takes the stage to talk about how Qualcomm is driving leadership-class AI experiences with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 utilizes transformer networks in its Hexagon Processor to reshape how neural networks function and provide higher performance on the connected intelligent edge, enabling 4x greater AI performance than the previous generation Snapdragon platform and 60% better performance per watt.

VP of AI Software Jeff Gehlhaar joins to talk about the Qualcomm AI Stack, a full software development stack supporting all popular frameworks for a “develop once, deploy anywhere” approach for seamless execution across platforms.

This unified software stack means that no matter what development framework you work in, be it TensorFlow, PyTorch, ONNX, or Keras, developers can talk directly to the Qualcomm AI Engine and hardware. That software stack is supported by a range of developer libraries and services, system software, and operating systems.

Jeff Gehlhaar also unveils the Qualcomm AI Studio, which supports a complete model workflow for developers, from model design to optimization to deployment and profiling. The Qualcomm AI Studio brings together all of Qualcomm’s AI development tools into one place and offers visualization tools to simplify the development process and see AI models in action.
