Two important bills proposing amendments to the Charter were passed with the required two-thirds majority in the Tibetan Parliament in Exile during the final day of its eighth session on Thursday.

The first bill, tabled by the Kashag (Cabinet), introduces amendments to the qualifications for the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission. For 30 years (1991–2021) since the Charter's implementation, the appointment of the Chief Justice and two other judges did not have to meet the requirements of Article 63, Section 2(c). The new amendment extends this exemption for an additional 10 years, making it 40 years.

The second bill, presented by the Standing Committee, introduces amendments regarding the tenure of the two additional judges serving on the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission, setting their term of office at five years.
