This video will teach you about pure substances and mixtures.
You will also learn about the type of mixtures: Homogenous and Heterogenous mixtures.

There are one hundred eighteen types of substances that cannot be further broken down into simpler substances and they are known as elements and they are listed in the periodic table.

Each element consists of the smallest unit of matter which is called an atom and each atom of an element consists of all the characteristics of that element.
Two or more atoms same or different kind chemically bonded to each other are known as molecules.
Molecules having two more types of atoms bonded to each other are known as compounds.
Now let’s learn what are pure substances, mixtures, and compounds?
Pure substances:
The substances that are filled entirely with elements or compounds of the same type are called pure substances.
For example:-
Water is entirely made up of compound H2O all over, no other compound is there so clean water is a pure substance and consists of only molecules of H2O.

Is it a pure substance?
No! Coffee has milk, water, sugar, coffee, so it has compounds of milk, compounds of water, compounds of sugar, compounds of coffee, so it’s not a pure substance.
Diamond:
Now is it a pure substance?
Yes! Diamond is made up of all same molecules so the diamond is a pure substance it has only one type of molecule.
Mixtures are the physical combination of two or more pure substances.
For example
The salt solution is a mixture of two pure substances.
Air is also a mixture of oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and many other gases.
Cement is a mixture of sand, water, and gravel.
Mixtures can be of two types homogenous and heterogeneous.

I hope you enjoyed watching the video, we always try to teach you with as simple methods as we can.
Kids should spend time watching informative videos and expand their knowledge day by day.
Kids retain what they see in audio-visual lessons so make them watch informative videos rather than cramming things.
