I’ve seen a lot of solutions to The Gilded Rose Refactoring Kata over the years. Many are, frankly, doing it wrong. People spend a lot of time creating unit tests for the code before they begin refactoring and miss out on the best way to do that.

In this video I demonstrate the best way to write tests for Gilded Rose and explain why with the help of Kent Beck's test desiderata.
