After a last minute change of travel plans, I decide to stay in Nepal and take on the Everest Base Camp (EBC) Trek, with 3 days notice and with no guide and no porter!

Things don't exactly go to plan!!!

The route:

Kathmandu - Salleri - Surke (2 days by jeep/bus)

Surke - Monjo (most people stop before Monjo, but the next day is very tough so it pays to get as much hiking done today as possible).

Monjo - Namche Bazar (most people stay here 2 nights so that they can do an acclimatisation hike)

Namche Bazar - Tengboche

Tengboche - Dingboche (again, most stay 2 nights and do an acclimatisation hike)

Dingboche - Loboche

Loboche - Gorekshep (arrive here as early as you can, get a room, drop your main bag and pack a day bag, eat, then head to EBC. Then back to Gorekshep for the night)

The next morning, hike up to the top of Kala Patthar (it's right behind Gorekshep) you get an amazing view of everest. Start hiking at around 4am. It takes 2 hours to the top. Back down to Gorekshep for breakfast then start the jouney back.
