Protagonist Syndrome entails that state of mind where you want to try and help someone you care about or be empathetic but you find it all the more difficult because of the things you’re dealing with on your own, often times things you don’t tell anyone about. Gilda is a very visceral representation of this, as she always came off intense and upsetting, finding it hard to control herself in the wake of her own personal traumas and problems. There’s this really rough dichotomy between external expression and internal turmoil, and I think it’s important to admit to yourself that you feel this way sometimes.
