During this Skype conversation Luca Vitone talks about the work he presented at the 55th Venice Biennale 2013.
"Thus, I have tried to find a type of dust that was even more harmful.
After some considerations, I came to Eternit with the intention of bringing it to the Venice Biennale, but it was not possible.
Now it is an illegal material, but we are surrounded by it.
We got in touch with a company that does asbestos removal, but we did not manage to bring the material to the Biennale.
There is a sort of hypocrisy or fear around this issue, and for many other reasons, at the end they said 'No, you cannot do it.'
But I persisted on this idea, as I really wanted to bear witness of this material through a monochromatic approach. At this point, I said: 'If I cannot bring the material, I will bring its smell.' When I realized that its smell does not exist, I decided to invent it."
