Olympus 40-150mm F2.8 PRO VS. 12-100mm F4 PRO

I recently replaced my Olympus 40-150mm F2.8 PRO with the Olympus 12-100 F4 PRO in order to reduce overall kit size, weight, while increasing the flexibility of my Olympus camera system.

There's no denying that the 40-150 is an incredible lens, however, since purchasing the lens a couple of years ago, I had yet to bring it with me on backpacking trip simply because if its weight and inability to shoot wide.

When the 12-100 F4 came out, I knew this might be the solution I was looking for. It not only covers the range of my 12-40mm, but it increases the range out to 100mm (or 200mm in full frame)! In addition to increasing range, it gives me image stabilization in the lens and when paired with the stabilization in the body of the Olympus OMD EM1 ii....the outcome is incredible. The only sacrifice you'll be required to make is going from F2.8 or F4. Easy choice!

I struggled for years with the desire to go backpacking, but I didn't know where to begin. Summer after summer would leave me wishing I had done more in the mountains and come each fall I'd fail to push myself further into the backcountry while hunting. Having grown tired of not living out my dreams, I decided to stop waisting time and just figure it out for myself.
