The studies conducted during the last seven campaigns by the Designation of Origin of Montoro-Adamuz, specifically the recent research published by Mr. Manuel Brenes from the Instituto de la Grasa (Institute of Fat) of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), demonstrate that Extra Virgin Olive Oils with the Designation of Origin of Montoro-Adamuz are very rich in healthy bio-active substances; such as oleic acid, sterols, squalene, polyphenols and tocopherols.
In particular, they have a high concentration of phenolic compounds, much higher than other Olive Oils, which can be attributed to their varieties of olive tree, Picual and the native Nevadillo negro, to the early harvesting of the olive, to the extreme agro-climatic conditions of the crop and to the use of mountain side olive groves.
Olive oil is gaining prestige every day as a healthy food and the latest publications from the Predimed study, along with the discovery of Oleocanthal, position Extra Virgin Olive Oils from the Designation of Origin Montoro-Adamuz as a Natural Source of Health and with scientific evidence suggesting that they are the healthiest.
