Rehab at Home for Adults: What Is the Ling Six Sound Test? | MED-EL

In this video, you will see John and his wife Donna completing the Ling Six Sound Test (also known as the Ling Sound Check). This is a quick and easy way to check that your cochlear implants or hearing devices are working and that they are programmed so you can hear all speech sounds. John was able to imitate all of the Ling sounds through listening alone (no lip-reading) with just his cochlear implant. This reassures John that his cochlear implant is working well and that he is able to hear the full range of speech sounds.

Regularly completing the Ling Sound Check is a good way to monitor your cochlear implant functioning. Keep track of your responses and discuss any difficulties with your hearing professional.
