After taking an epic Midwest road trip through the northern and central regions of the country, we think the Midwest deserves much more attention. This video will outline the best route for a Midwest road trip (and full Midwest road trip itinerary) hitting all the major cities and uncovering the most underrated destinations!

THE STOPS
-Cleveland, OH. We skipped the city itself and camped at a goat farm outside of Cuyahoga National Park!

-Marine City, MI. A charming small town nestled on the St Claire River. Between Marine City Beach, Peche Island Rear Range Light, ship-watching, and kind locals; you might have a hard time pulling yourself away.

-Detroit, MI. One of the best places to visit in the Midwest. Schedule a few days to fully explore the food scene (Cold Truth, Pie Sci Pizza) and visit the amazing array of museums (The Henry Ford). We also recommend booking a tour of the city with a local, where you can learn more about the city’s history.

Bonus Stop: Indiana Dunes National Park

-Milwaukee, WI. Take advantage of the cheese & beer scene as you explore the city’s lighthouses (Milwaukee Pierhead Lighthouse, North Point Lighthouse) and visit Milwaukee Public Market.

Bonus Stops - Madison, WI & Eau Claire, WI.

-Minneapolis, MN. We highly recommend stopping at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, Minnehaha Falls, and the Mall of America.

Bonus Stop - Mankato, MN.

-Sioux Falls, SD. It’s all super easy to explore by foot, including free access to a set of cascading waterfalls in Falls Park.

-Omaha, NE. Omaha is on the border of Nebraska and Iowa so you’re also checking Iowa off on this stop. We recommend strolling the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, the Old Market, and the Riverfront.

Bonus Stop: Lincoln, NE.

Wichita, KS. We highly recommend stops at the Kansas Aviation Museum, the Original Pizza Hut Museum, Botanica, and The Keeper of the Plains!

Kansas City, MO. The City of Fountains has awesome nightlife, rooftop pools, and walkable neighborhoods - as well as some amazing museum options such as the Money Museum and The National WWI Museum and Memorial.

Bonus Stop: Blackwater, MO.

St Louis, MO. You have to visit historic Route 66, get some famous Ted Drews, visit The Gateway Arch, and The City Museum.

Bonus Stop: Casey, IL. They have the world's largest mailbox, world's largest pitchfork, world's largest rocking chair, the list goes on.

Carmel, IN. Carmel has a walkable downtown with some awesome restaurants and shopping. You can also pop into both Indianapolis and Speedway, Indiana - which is where they host the Indy 500 and have the world’s largest racetrack.

Covington, KY! Make sure to visit the Roebling Bridge, Mainstrasse Village, eat Spaghetti Eis, and visit Goebel Park. We recommend staying in The Cov and taking the 5-10 minute drives to also see Newport, KY and Cincinnati, OH.
