Preparing for Biodiversity Net Gain 3.1. with Land App - Webinar - 28/03/2023

Our new functionality is now live in the software, reducing the preparation time for BNG 3.1. In the webinar, we cover this functionality, and how you can now access it for your business. The session includes a question and answer (Q&A) from participants and covers a range of technical and practical issues related to land management and conservation.

The stages described:
1. The first step in the process is to define the area of interest by creating a red-line boundary.
2. Ordnance Survey MasterMap data is purchased for the area of interest.
3. The UK Habitat Best Guess Baseline is purchased by running the MasterMap data through an algorithm that takes into account satellite data from the last five years and compares each agricultural field to different data sets to identify whether it's cropland or grassland.
4. The Priority Habitat Networks layer from Natural England is used to inform Biodiversity Net Gain 3.1. Strategic Significance Score: a multiplier which can either be 1.0, 1.1, or 1.15. The assumption made by the calculator is that if the area of interest intersects an enhancement zone or an existing habitat type, it receives a multiplier of 1.15, and if it's outside of a zone, it receives a multiplier of 1.0.
5. Data tables can be exported from Land App and imported into the official Natural England tool.
