JS Bach Sonata No.1 for Violin in G minor BWV 1001, arranged for Oboe and Cor Anglais by Diana Doherty and Alexandre Oguey.

"In times of emotional stock-taking such as these we will often turn to J.S. Bach. There is just something so nourishing for the heart and mind in immersing oneself in his beautifully balanced sound world.

The COVID shutdown gave us the opportunity to put our heads together, arrange, workshop and rehearse this concert version of a whole work, the first Sonata for violin in G minor BWV 1001.

Gustav Leonhardt’s keyboard adaptation of the work was also a great reference and gave us helpful alternatives as well as underpinning the strong sense of harmonic journey inherent in the piece.

We hoped to create the feeling of playing a concert again and wanted to share this beautiful music with people we cared about - something we have all been missing very much."
