Proteinuria: What I Ate to Reduce In Half Follow Up

Описание к видео Proteinuria: What I Ate to Reduce In Half Follow Up

Welcome to HealthyKidneyInc. This video is a follow up on an earlier video we did about my recent bloodwork and how I was able to reduce my proteinuria in half. In this segment, Proteinuria: What I Ate to Reduce In Half Follow Up, I go over in full detail what I ate over the course of that time to reduce my proteinuria. Thanks for tuning in.

The secret to my bloodwork results was a low-protein diet. By reducing the amount of protein I consumed, I lowered my proteinuria which can lead to many overall health benefits. Protein gets into your urine if your kidneys aren’t working correctly. Glomeruli, which are bundles of tiny blood vessels in your kidneys perform the initial stage of filtering waste products and excess water from your blood. The waste products and excess water leave your body through your pee.

Glomeruli do not allow passage of larger proteins or blood cells into your pee. When this process is not working correctly due to to kidney disease, it can cause protein to collect into your urine because it is not excreted correctly. Proteins may flow into your pee if there’s damage to your glomeruli or tubules, an issue with the reabsorption process of the proteins.

Some ways to reduce proteinuria are consuming less protein, limiting your salt intake, which can lower your blood pressure, increasing fiber intake, which can help reduce cholesterol and control blood sugar, as well as
exercising or moving regularly. You should aim for at least two hours of exercise every week. This also is very beneficial for kidney transplant patients. Signs of proteinuria include frequent or painful urinating, foamy or bubbly pee, and puffiness around your face, abdomen or lower body. Consider following a low protein diet to reduce proteinuria. To your best kidney health everybody.
