In the Bible, Mahalath is the name of a woman from Ishmael’s family whom Esau married. Here’s what Scripture says:

Genesis 28:8-9 (NKJV)

So Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan did not please his father Isaac.
And Esau went to Ishmael and took Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, the sister of Nebaioth, to be his wife in addition to the wives he had.

Key points about her:

Lineage – She was Ishmael’s daughter (and therefore Abraham’s granddaughter).

Siblings – She is called the sister of Nebaioth, who was Ishmael’s firstborn.

Purpose of the marriage – Esau hoped marrying within Abraham’s extended family would please Isaac, since his previous Canaanite wives had grieved his parents (Genesis 26:34-35).

In Genesis 36:3, the same woman is listed under the name Basemath (some translations harmonize by saying “Basemath, also called Mahalath”). Ancient naming often allowed a person to be known by more than one name, or slightly different spellings.
