About
As the fourth most populous country in the world, alongside its continuous, multi-decade economic growth, Indonesia pledged to reduce emissions from 2020-2030 by 29% (unconditional) up to 41% (conditional) against the 2030 business as usual scenario, an increased unconditional commitment compared to 2010 pledge of 26%.

In line with the Paris Agreement, Indonesia’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) outlines the country’s transition to a low carbon and climate resilience future. The NDC describes the enhanced actions and the necessary enabling environment during the 2015-2019 period that has laid the foundation for more ambitious goals beyond 2020, contributing to the concerted effort to prevent 2°C increase in global average temperature and to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre- industrial levels.

Forests play a critical role in the mission to to achieve Indonesia’s NDC as expressed by the government FOLU Net Sink 2030 program. While at the same time, forest is also critical in supporting the livelihoods of people worldwide, particularly in fulfilling daily substance needs for everyone. Sustainable forest management can contribute to economic development by providing income, employment, food security and shelter where it most urgently needed. Finding ways to balance industrial needs with concerns over the long-term sustainability of forest resources is the very essence of sustainable forest management.

The discussion aim to reach and influence businesses, associations, government bodies and environmental activists to actively participate in achieving Indonesia FOLU Net Sink 2030 through its 15 (fifteen) key scopes. It is expected that many more will be encouraged to join this collaborative effort in order to contribute significantly to Indonesia’s NDC target.
