It's time for Sylvain's paralogue, which I did before with Golden Deer. It's one of the best cuz it gives you a lot of good stuff and isn't particularly hard. I had a close call with Catherine, since I over-relied on her without having been training her up like you normally would. I pretty much just use Catherine to fill in a spot, when for most people, she'd be a main member of the team cuz it's just outright detrimental to not have her around constantly getting EXP.

What happened with Catherine is that she got hit with a gambit, and when that happens your units suffer some pretty harsh debuffs, so even a force to be reckoned with like her can get taken down after being hit by one. They lower your stats, prevent you from moving, and prevent you from using gambits of your own. On Maddening, there's a lot more enemies with battalions so being hit by enemy gambits is just sort of always a threat you have to deal with.
